Winter Awareness Clinic
is an all-day training in which you will
learn how to appropriately prepare for a
winter trip and what to do for a safe
fulfilling experience once you arrive. Such
topics as equipment, how to dress, what to
eat and drink, familiarity with the area,
use of a map and compass, weather, what to
do if you get lost or in an emergency, how
to deal with injuries, how to prevent winter
illnesses such as frostbite, dealing with
hypothermia and altitude sickness, reading
terrain, and avalanche awareness will be
covered. |

To really get an idea of the volume of this
volcano, drive around it. Mt. Shasta is approximately 80 miles in circumference.
You will see the ancient volcanic flows of Mt. Shasta, pass the historic
Emigrant Trail now known as Military Pass Road, and observe geological and
glacial wonders. The following tour offers the most scenic, primitive, and
pristine drive around the mountain.
Come experience Mount Shasta in its
entirety! Experience firsthand the inside of
a tephra cone and the intensity of a mud
debris pyroclastic flow. Get a close-up view
of the five major glaciers and the
historical diversion structure built in the
1920's and 30's to prevent mud flows into
the town of McCloud. This is a driving tour
with a minimal amount of hiking to each site

Step-On Bus Guiding involves stepping onto your
bus full of passengers and directing you to
beautiful, scenic and historical sites in
the Mount Shasta area which can include the
Lava Beds National Monument, Scott Valley,
Shasta Valley and the Yreka area, plus area
in and around Lassen Volcanic National Park. Robin will also
entertain you with local history, geology,
legends and stories about the area. |

/ Backpacking Guide
One day clinic for anyone who wants to climb
Mt. Shasta on their own, but who needs
instruction in the use of ice ax and crampon
use. Or just wants to learn about the basic
tools of climbing snow. Designed to give you the
basic information you need to climb Mt. Shasta
via Avalanche Gulch the regular route. Topics
include: Walking with the ax, ice ax self-belay,
ice ax self-arrest (from all positions),
crampons boot fit and adjustment, walking in
crampons, flat-footing, French technique, German
technique, using the front points, and
glissading. This clinic is designed to give you practical
instruction in the use of crampons and ice ax
skills which may be used while climbing Mt.
Shasta and is not a substitute for basis
mountain sense and judgment while climbing Mt.
Shasta.

Wilderness Seminars.
