Sunshine, longer days, blooming wildflowers, and endless opportunities to get outside and enjoy the beauty of the Mt. Shasta area. I've been spending time learning about mushrooms. This is my first morel finding. Lower, Middle and Upper McCloud Falls are flowing and lush with the vegetation surrounding them. Fishing is very popular! Wildflower season is underway, and the colors are popping! Come along on a tour to see these beautiful blooms up close and learn more about the natural wonders of the Mt. Shasta area. This photo was taken from the McCloud side of Mt. Shasta. The large canyon visible on the mountain is Mud Creek Canyon, which has experienced major mudflows in the past and continues to do so today. These powerful events can be triggered by heavy rainfall or periods of triple-digit temperatures that rapidly melt the glaciers and snowfields high on the mountain. It's a fascinating reminder that Mt. Shasta is constantly being shaped by the forces of nature.
