Penstemon newberryi is a species of penstemon. It is native to the mountains of northern California including Mt. Shasta. It grows in rocky habitat, often at high elevations. There are many sacred places on Mt. Shasta to take it all in! This is growing on the trail to Pluto Cave. Calochortus macrocarpus, also known as sagebrush mariposa lily, is a North American species of bulbous perennials in the lily family. I went here with a friend of mine to check out the wildflowers and Pluto Cave. This is located on the Klamath National Forest. Permitted Guides aren't allowed to guide here. It is open to the public sunrise to sunset. A great lunch spot! I was guiding this group of women to all the sacred sites on Mt. Shasta and the surrounding area. The summer has started out great so far...Perfect temperatures, snow's melting and wildflowers are blooming!
