The road is now open to the Old Ski Bowl on Mt. Shasta. It's a great time to go on a Scenic/Sacred Site Tour. Pussy Paws, Coayptridium umbellatum named after the kitty cat is a common wildflower on Mt. Shasta. These are other known as Dirty Socks...smell them! Dwarf Lupine... Fireweed(purple flower) and St. Johns Wort(yellow flower) grow on Mt. Shasta. You can see both of these on the lower slopes. They both are edible and have medicinal value. Learn more on a tour! The thimbleberry has a very tart flavor. They are ripe and found along Everitt Memorial Highway(Road up the mountain). Now is a good time to kept your eye out for Bear Scat along the road. They love the berries!
